I bought this watch for my husband as an anniversary gift. He hasn’t had a wristwatch since he was a teenager. After A LOT of research on brands, I opted for this watch and it did not disappoint. The watch truly is beautiful on the wrist. Pictures do not do it justice. It is a very nice everyday watch. It can be worn with dressy clothes or jeans and a T-shirt and look nice. He loves the watch and now wants more watches because of it.

First time for a Seiko handsome looking watch does what it says on the tin very quick delivery and well packaged

Dropping a star. As mentioned by previous commenters, the band finish wore down to what it looks in photo in a about a month .
I’m at a keyboard all day and the finish is noticeably coming off on the desk .
The rest of the watch is still as beautiful as the day I received it, so my only advice is that you don’t wear it if you’re going to be at a computer for any length of time .

The very dramatic bracelet is the star of this watch. A very nice break from the typical oyster link variations. You won’t be substituting leather or NATO though due to the 4 lug design per side of the case. Why would you want to? The clasp is the standard Seiko stamped metal, serviceable enough.

The watch is really nice, too. Very legible hands with famous Seiko lume distributed in a dress watch sort of way. The solar cell thickness does make seeing the date window a bit of a squint. Chronograph and alarm are functional bonuses. The crown does not screw down and water resistance is “only” 100 m, but “dive watch” wasn’t part of the description. All in all, does the job and looks good, too!

I could not get my mind off of this watch, and I’m so glad that I succumbed to my weakness and bought it. It is a beautiful watch. Very manly, yet still elegant without looking tacky and oozing machismo. You can’t beat that it is powered via the Sun. The stopwatch only measures up to an hour, but you weren’t going to buy this watch to use the stopwatch anyways. You’re buying this watch because you plan on getting laid tonight.

My friend (who has high functioning Autism) destroyed my sanity rambling on about this watch and it’s details. He does not have a good relationship with money management, so when this came on sale I agreed to buy this on Amazon as a Birthday present to himself with payment upfront.

We are now both very happy. He has a watch, I have peace and quiet.

Sorry can’t give many star now. Just received the watch but after every hour or so the watch keep stopping. Knowing it a solar watch i have put it by the window to capture the sunlight for a hour but still keeps stopping after a hour or so . Can any one suggest something or should I returned it back .

Very nice watch! I’m very happy with it!

This watch has an unusual and striking appearance compared to run-of-the mill chronographs,. The band’s very shiny finish and multiple tones looks great. This is a fairly large, heavy watch – not a problem unless you are looking for something lighter and smaller. Beyond the appearance, the solar power aspect and luminous hands and hour marks were important. I travel quite a bit, and don’t want to risk a battery giving out in a foreign city. And, I rely on an all-night luminous display for time checks in hotels that don’t have in-room clocks. (Oddly, many still don’t.)

Setting the watch was easy. The alarm feature is interesting but is too quiet for moderately noisy environments or sound sleepers. I wouldn’t rely on it for anything important (like waking up in time to catch a plane). The calendar date display is small and deeply recessed, and hence nearly impossible to read without perfect lighting. That’s not a huge problem for me, as I don’t bother with this feature.

The band was fairly easy to adjust with a pin tool. I removed one link, and moved the clasp pin one notch.

    – Striking appearance
    – Solar power, no maintenance
    – Good luminous hands/markings, dimmer but still fairly visible by early morning
    – Chronograph uses main second hand (more useful, IMO, than a tiny dial)

    Cons (minor):
    – Alarm is very quiet
    – Date hard to see
    – A bit heavy on the wrist

UPDATE AFTER 2.5 YEARS (Intermittent Use)
Watch still looks great, none of the band wear reported by others. But, I’m not wearing it daily to work on machinery. Mainly used for dressier occasions, though I’ve banged it around a bit too. BUT, IT STOPPED CHARGING PROPERLY. Even after lengthy exposure to bright light, it would run briefly and stop. Sending it in for repair under the 3-year warranty and hoping they fix it. The seller on my order was Amazon, and the watch came with the proper warranty registration card.

I’ve knocked it down from 5 to 3 stars. I have a couple of Citizen Ecodrive watches that hold a charge for months with never a speck of trouble. This was my first Seiko solar and, despite its great appearance, I’m not impressed at this point.
