I have had the watch five months now (as of Dec 31, 2018). In October the Second Hand, which goes around only when using the stop watch, began stopping at 10, rather than 12 when finished timing something. Simultaneously, the small second hand stops half way around at 5, rather than Zero at the top. That didn’t bother me too much, because I don’t need that precision and the outer bezel which you manually adjust gives me accuracy to the minute, which is all I generally need. However, last week, the watch itself is now losing time, up to an hour a day. I am going to look into returning it now under the Amazon warranty and see what happens. I just looked at the Amazon Warranty, It says “Product support window closed on October 22, 2018”. I take it that means that after three months, the warranty is gone.

I bought this watch last year. It’s beautiful on the outside but is useless as a chronometer. As you can see in the picture I uploaded, the second hand and the smaller tenth of a second hand are stuck in the wrong position when you press the reset button. This happened less than a year after buying the watch.
Result: The watch is just a nice piece of jewelry but is useless for the main purpose I bought it. (To time actors during scenes in professional and amateur Musicals.)
I figured BULOVA was a real good brand, but I was obviously mistaken.
To make things worse, I live in Argentina and service and /or warranty don’t seem to exist.
I am waiting to send my watch to the states with my daughter who is traveling to Los Ángeles in December to see if I can at least get it fixed.
My honest opinion: A bad choice

One of the most beautifully designed elegant masterpiece!!!
    * Stunning blue Marine Star dial
    * Great chronograph model
    * Beautiful stainless steel strap and lock clasp
    * The 43mm dial seems to be the perfect size
    * Doesn’t feel heavy on the wrist at all being all stainless steel.

This is one of the best watches i have ever owned.
Have been getting a lot of compliments at work so it’s definitely an eye catcher!
The intense dark blue dial is the best. Doesn’t get any better with stainless steel and dark blue going together.

I agree with a lot of reviewers that it would have been better if the seconds hand was sweeping. Until you get used to it, to tend to feel if the watch isn’t working. But don’t worry guys, all is well. The watch works like a charm and you have to just get used to it. It’s just like any other technology that tries to save battery, Bulova tried to do the same.

It’s got everything else to love for so the non-sweeping seconds hand is a negligible thing.

I’m going to give it “5 STARS *****”.

This is my third Bulova and I can’t really say anything negative about it. It wears well on my 7.5″ wrist and receives many compliments from watch lovers and non-watch people alike. The blue dial is beautiful, as is the steel bracelet with secured deployant clasp. The reason for The 4-star review is mainly due to the lack of a smooth sweep second hand as is present on the Precisionist line with the same movement. I’d Bay weren’t lacking, this would be a 5-star for me.

Love this watch. Easy-to-use chronograph function, everything very legible. It has the Precisionist movement onboard. The watch wears fairly big, but that’s what I like. It gives that solid feeling and yet it’s pretty elegant and dressy enough to go with the suit. Polished case and bracelet give the watch quite an appealing appearance. For me this was one of those watches that looks in person as good as on the picture.

Would have been even nicer if it had sapphire crystal–I would certainly pay extra $$ for that.

  6. MPEN

Very comfortable and good looking watch to wear. Easy to set and use. I especially like the fact that the bezel actually moves (other citizen and seiko ones do not), and the fact that there is not ugly Tachymeter like other watches have. Only thing I don’t like so much (but which I got used to) was the fact that the second hand does not move unless you are timing something. There is a small sweep second hand if you just need to watch something spin around.

Unfortunately when this watch arrived there was a rattle emanating from inside the case at first I thought it was the strap but after holding it firmly the rattle could still be heard as though there was a loose component inside which was a shame because I really wanted to like this watch as it was my first bulova and had Heard good things about there timepieces I had also saved on its purchase due to the Black Friday sale so hoping that I had jumped upon a bit of a bargain great looking watch shame about the poor quality.

This is a very nice looking watch. The deep blue color against the stainless steel case and band give it a striking visual appearance. The dial is very readable and not to busy (unlike the Citizen Nighthawk – wow) but the sub dials are easy to read. However it wears big for it’s 43 mm case size. I don’t have large wrists and I don’t want a watch that looks like it’s the size of Rhode Island on me so I sent it back. That’s just me, YMMV. I can’t speak to the operation or accuracy because I didn’t use it before I sent it back but being a Bulova and being quartz I don’t think you’ll have any issues with it. I own two others, vintage watches, one from 1959 and one from some where in the ’40s or early’ 50s and they are both still working!

  9. Andrew Cooper

Bulova seems to have found a niche between more modest watches and much more expensive watches. This watch is big and beautiful with a rich blue face and really nice details. I may need to find a YouTube video to figure out the buttons and functions (our maybe I’ll just forget all that and enjoy the watch). Very nice. My new “go to” watch for everyday wear.
