I never realized how much I depended on the free snacks at work until I no longer had access to them. Anyone else living the work from home life who can relate? Offices always seem to have some sort of free food up for grabs, whether it’s a homemade dessert someone brought in to share or protein bars that do the trick in a pinch. Alas, now it’s the homemade snack life for me…which has gotten pretty dull over the past six months of quarantine.

So who better to turn to for snack inspiration than Chrissy Teigen. After all, when it comes to Cravings, she always has a solution. (See what I did there?) Not only is her go-to snack healthy, it’s also kid-friendly and takes virtually no time at all to make.

Banana Crisps

Banana chips! It’s genius. They’re crunchy, sweet, a little salty…everything a snack should be. They’re also a good source of fiber and potassium. “Banana chips are the only semi-healthy thing I can consume right now,” Teigen shared on Instagram. She says she likes making them seasoned with a little sea salt, but if you want to get fancy, she has two next-level recipes to try.

Chrissy Teigen’s banana chips recipe (two ways)

Makes 3/4 cup to 1 cup

Ingredients
For spicy Thai banana chips:
1 unripe, very hard banana, sliced into rounds
1 Tbsp melted coconut oil or vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp fish sauce
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp finely ground chilis or chili flakes

For cinnamon sugar banana chips:
1 unripe, very hard banana, sliced into rounds
2 Tbsp melted coconut oil or vegetable oil
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Generous pinch fine sea salt

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

2. If you’re making the spicy Thai banana chips: Toss the banana rounds in a bowl with the oil, fish sauce, sugar, and chilies. Line a baking sheet with parchment (if you have it) and arrange rounds on sheet. Bake until crisp and golden, 13 to 14 minutes, rotating the pan in the middle of baking. (Bake one to two minutes longer if needed to crisp. Remove from the oven, cool, and enjoy!

3. If you’re making the cinnamon sugar banana chips: Toss the banana rounds in a bowl with the oil. Line a baking sheet with parchment (if you have it) and arrange rounds on sheet. Bake the until crisp and golden, eight minutes. While the chips are baking, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl. Remove from the oven and sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the chips. Return to oven and bake until crisp, four to five minutes. Remove from the oven, cool, and enjoy!
