A new Apple TV Plus feature is set to launch in the coming year, and it may evolve the way how your streaming experience is possible today.

According to Bloomberg, the publication that first reported about the new feature, Apple Inc. has its plans to introduce augmented reality (AR) as one of the service's bonus features.

As the report noted, the new tech will allow users to display characters or objects in their homes' comfort using the AR tech.

For example, if you are watching the Apple show “For All Mankind” using the bonus AR mode, you will get a virtual lunar rover on their device's display, seemingly perched atop their living room coffee table. It will be displayed on a viewer's phone or tablet and integrated into the surrounding environment, according to the source

Users can get this feature by using their iPad or iPhone devices.

Though nothing is still sure about this feature, it was considered that this rumor is true since Apple had originally intended to launch the feature this year, before the coronavirus pandemic delayed its plans.

Aside from the Apple TV Plus AR mode, Bloomberg also mentioned that an Apple headset is coming in 2022 that will feature the same augmented and virtual reality tech.

It will be followed by AR glasses as early as the year 2023. Heading the mindset that Apple is now pushing forward on applying AR tech for their services.

Amazon and Google also use AR

Before Apple even suggested to bring AR on the table of TV Plus, Amazon and Google already made this possible for each of their provided services.

For Amazon, the new AR shopping tool called Room Decorator allows customers to view multiple products together, or even see if the item is under the eligible furniture products in the Amazon shopping app for iOS and desktop web browsers.

“With access to the inspiring furniture styles available on Amazon, customers can do more than just imagine their dream rooms – they can visualize them to make more informed shopping decisions,” Amazon said.

Google, at the same time, also introduced a similar feature this week. Engadget reported that the Google Arts and Culture now allows users to view ancient creatures from Moscow's State Darwin Museum and London's Natural History Museum– in the most realistic way.
